New Academic Staff Orientation
Ìý
UPDATE: August 18, 2025
With a potential lock out of DFA members scheduled for Wednesday morning, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the New Academic Staff Orientation program that was scheduled for Tuesday, WednesdayÌýand Thursday this week.Ìý The uncertainty of a resolution in short order means that most programming would be disrupted, so we will reschedule some programming for the fall.
Meanwhile:
- The NASO Brightspace site, which contains a wealth of useful information, is open now: .
- We will also bring forward the creation of a dedicated virtual support Teams Chat that will support you through your first year, so that you can ask teaching and learning-related questions there.
- You can access virtual support on instructional technology (e.g., Brightspace) Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m. viaÌý.
- From 12:30 to 2:30 tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, the Centre for Learning and Teaching will be running a short introduction to CLT supports and a virtual drop-in session for new faculty members.Ìý You can log in to the session at any time, to talk through any aspects of your preparation for teaching.Ìý Even if you do not have specific questions, we will be there to introduce you to the Centre and all the ways in which we can support you.Ìý You will receive a calendar invitation through Outlook, or can access the session using this link: .
These resources will not be accessible to DFA members during a lockout, but will be available once access is restored. Further, we will notify you about rescheduled NASO sessions, once the disruption is resolved.Ìý
We are disappointed not to be able to welcome you in person but hope to connect soon.Ìý In the meantime, we hope to see you at CLT’s virtual drop-in session tomorrow.
