OVERVIEW

Microcredential Module 3 requires learners to demonstrate the practical application of trauma-informed interviewing principles in a forensic context.

Forensic Social Work 3 provides the conceptual and skill foundation for interviewing individuals whose experiences may include trauma, violence, victimization, justice- or child-welfare system involvement, mental health concerns, disability, racism, discrimination, gender-based violence, marginalization, or other circumstances that affect communication and disclosure.

The microcredential module progresses from learning interviewing principles to demonstrating them through a structured practice activity.

Learners will complete interview preparation documentation, demonstration, and post-interview professional reflection.

DEMONSTRATION OF COMPETENCY

Successful learners will demonstrate the ability to prepare for and conduct a structured forensic interview, establish professional role clarity, support psychological and emotional safety, apply appropriate questioning techniques, respond to communication and accessibility needs, maintain professional boundaries, and critically evaluate the interview's strengths and limitations.

ASSESSMENT

The interviewing activity will be evaluated using a competency-based rubric that addresses preparation, role clarification, rapport, questioning techniques, trauma-informed interviewing, professional communication, accessibility, application of the micro-credential鈥檚 core competencies, professional boundaries, information gathering, and critical reflection.
This Module is not a standalone course. It is part of the Microcredential: Forensic Social Work & Human Service Practice pathway.
