Each year, millions of dollars in scholarships, awards, bursaries and prizes is distributed through the Registrar's Office to promising 17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß students.ÌýScholarships are money awarded for academic merit. For some scholarships, assessment is also based on other criteria such as community involvement, leadership and/or financial need.Ìý

Information for transfer students

  • Transfer students are not eligible for entrance awardsÌýwith the exception ofÌýthe First Nations and Indigenous Black (FNIB) Scholarships. To apply for an FNIB scholarship, please submit theÌýGeneral Entrance AwardÌýapplication.
  • Transfer students are eligible to apply forÌýBursaries.
  • As a transfer student, once you have completed 30 credit hours over 2 academic semesters, you will be automatically assessed for our merit-basedÌý17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß In-Course Scholarships.

Applying for Bursaries

17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß's Undergraduate Bursary program provides funds to assist students in financial need. Bursaries are typically smaller amounts of money, intended to supplement other funding sources. Bursaries won't make up a major part of your funding, but they can fill in the gaps.

2025/2026 Bursary Program

  • Eligibility: The Student Award and Financial Aid office administers bursaries for students with current registration in an undergraduate degree or diploma. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) and Master of Social Work studnets are also eligible to receive a bursary through this application. See full eligibility criteria
  • Apply online: The application will be available through during the dates below. Login to Dal Online, select the "Student Awards and Financial Aid" menu option, then select "Apply for Financial Aid".
  • Submit required documents: Submit documentation within the bursary application Microsoft form link.
  • Decisions will be sent to your 17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß email address approximately one month after the application deadline.
  • If you missed the bursary deadline but find yourself in financial need, please contact the Awards and Financial Aid Office at awards@dal.ca to explore your options.
  • If you already received a bursary this term but find you are now experiencing unexpected emergency costs please contact the Awards and Financial Aid Office at awards@dal.ca to explore your options.

*Eligible students registered only for the winter term, who did not attend in the fall, can access the bursary application through Dal Online. If you believe you are eligible but do not see the winter bursary application in your Dal Online account, please email awards@dal.ca with a brief explanation of why you think you qualify.

Students in Graduate and Professional Programs, Law, Medicine or Dentistry

Students enrolled with the Faculties of Graduate Studies, Medicine, Dentistry (excluding the Diploma of Dental Hygiene), and Schulich School of Law should contact their faculties directly for bursary information.

King's College

Students attending the University of King's College should contact the King's Registrar's Office for information on available bursaries.

Research external options

There are a number of external scholarships offered to university students on behalf of outside organizations.
