Contact an Undergraduate Program Advisor

For most advising questions, you can book with any undergraduate program advisor. All undergraduate program advisors can assist with course planning, degree requirements, registration questions, and program planning. To receive support sooner, consider booking with the first available appointment.

Before You Book an Appointment

The Psychology and Neuroscience Guidebooks contain information on program requirements, course planning, and degree progression. Reviewing your guidebook may help answer your question before booking an advising appointment.

Step 1: Determine What Kind of Advising You Need

Review the PSYO/NESC advising options below to find the service that best matches your question.

General Undergraduate Program Advising

  • Course selection
  • Degree requirements
  • Program planning
  • Registration questions
  • Academic regulations
  • Graduation requirements

If your question relates to any of the topics above, book a 15-minute appointment with a PSYO/NESC undergraduate program advisor.

Planning Your Degree and Career Path

Undergraduate program advisors can also help you explore your academic goals and develop a long-term plan for your degree, including:

  • choosing between program options or majors
  • preparing for graduate, professional, or health-related programs
  • discussing paths available to students interested in course-based research or experiential learning
  • planning your course selections and academic progression

Please note that our undergraduate program advisors cannot give specific guidance on:

If you have degree and career pathway questions, book a pathway planning appointment.

Because these discussions often involve reviewing your goals, academic progress, and program requirements, we encourage you to come prepared with the questions you most want guidance on. When available, you may book two consecutive advising appointments to allow time for extended discussions of your goals.

During September (Fall add/drop) January (Winter add/drop), and March (course registration), advising appointments are focused primarily on registration-related questions. If you are seeking guidance on long-term degree planning or preparation for future study, consider scheduling these conversations later in the term when more time may be available for in-depth discussion.

Specialized Advising from our Undergraduate Program Coordinator

Most questions can be answered by any undergraduate program advisor, and we ask that students start with general program advising for guidance on your Psychology or Neuroscience degree.

However, some cases may require input from our Undergraduate Coordinator, Erin Sparks. If you have been referred to Dr. Sparks specifically, email pnugpc@dal.ca or erin.sparks@dal.ca to arrange advising. In your email, please mention who referred you to Dr. Sparks (e.g., the name of another advisor) and briefly describe the situation you need help with.

You can also visit Dr. Sparks’ drop-in advising for this purpose.
