Program options

This professional master's degree program offers three specializations:

  • Mental Health and Addictions:ÌýResidency requirement: 250 hours of clinical placements/practica. Courses include simulations and are delivered in a combination of modalities: in-person, synchronously online and asynchronously online.
  • Nurse Practitioner:ÌýResidency requirement: total of 700-hrs of clinical placements/practica. Courses include lab components, lectures, and are delivered in a combination of modalities: in-person, synchronously online and asynchronously online.
  • Professional : No clinical placements or residency requirement. Can be completed 100% online from anywhere in Canada. Courses are delivered both synchronously online and asynchronously online.

Clinical practicum

During the Master of Nursing Mental Health and Addictions and Master of Nursing Nurse Practitioner degree programs, you will participate in clinical placements to gain hands-on experience.

All graduate programs at 17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß are collaboratively delivered by a home Faculty and theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies.

Admission requirements

You'll need to meet theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirementsÌýas well as any program-specific admission requirements before you can apply.

The next deadline to apply for this program is June 1 for a January 2027 start.


Program-specific requirements

Admission is highly competitive.Ìý

  • Minimum GPA 3.3 in last 60 credit hours
  • RN licensure in Canada
  • 2 years (3,750+ hours) recent clinical experience (for Nurse Practitioner and Mental Health and Addictions streams)
  • Undergraduate level classes in research and statistics

If applying for the Nurse Practitioner or Mental Health and Addictions stream, you will be required to supply a letter from your HR department verifying that you have met the minimum requirement of clincial practice hours for your chosen stream. This should be included with your application and specify the number of hours worked with the organization.
