Our initiatives

As outlined in our strategic plan, 17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß aspires to be an accessible destination employer and the national leader in championing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Achieving inclusive excellence requires diversifying our faculty and staff complement by eliminating barriers and actively searching for the most accomplished and promising individuals, with special attention to al underrepresented groups and particular emphasis on African Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaw communities.

Black Scholars – Hiring Initiative

We are working toward making significant improvements in recruiting Black faculty through a strategic cluster hire. Cluster hires promote interdisciplinary collaboration, while creating communities of support for scholars from underrepresented groups.

Since 2011, the 17³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß Diversity Faculty Awards (DDFA) have been supporting targeted hiring initiatives to increase the number of faculty members who come from under-represented groups.
